How about a special little boutique experience, you can find that in Dallas. Looking to save some money, there are plenty of places for that as well. Maybe looking for something a little historic or quaint, you can find that too. Many hotels are near just the places you want to see, so believe it or not, you can walk or even take some public transportation to get where you want to go. So with that in mind, think about exactly what you want out of your hotel in Dallas. Is it location? Amenities? Onsite spas? Low cost? We'll try to give you some insight and ideas.

Picking a place to stay in Dallas means narrowing your choices down, there are boutique hotels, budget hotels, five-star hotels and everything in between. As you get ready to select a hotel for your visit to Dallas, you should think about the things you want to do. That will help dictate where you should stay, what neighborhood would be the best. Each of the neighborhoods has its own plusses and minuses. Some are easily walkable, some are known for their cafes and bistros, others for a teeming entertainment and still others roll up the sidewalks after dark. Some are romantic and would make for a wonderful wedding. Some are near golf courses. Some are close to transportation. For sports lovers, some are close to where the games are. So take a look around some of the neighborhoods and the places to stay in them.

West End Historic District Hotels

The West End Historic District is where Dallas started. This is where John Bryan built his trading post, which is considered the founding of Dallas. You won't find much left from that period but the West End has gone through multiple developments over the years. Old Warehouses and other brick buildings have been converted into shops, restaurants and hotels. Perhaps the most famous part of the West End is Dealy Square, which is the location of the assassination site of President John Kennedy. There is a museum in the building where Lee Harvey Oswald shot from.

Hotels in the area include the West End Hotel, which is operated by Intercontinental Hotels, Springhill Suites, operated by Marriott and the Hotel Lawrence. It was built in 1925.

Uptown/Turtle Creek Hotels

The uptown and Turtle Creek Neighborhoods have some of the finest hotels in the city. Perhaps the most famous is the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. This five star hotel started as a private home. It is now one of the most celebrated hotels in the world. But the other hotels in the area are not to be ignored. The Warwick Melrose Hotel has 184 rooms including 21 suites. It was built in 1924 and is 5 minutes from Love Field in the Turtle Creek/Oak Lawn neighborhood. The Hotel ZaZa is a unique boutique hotel. It attracts many celebrities that pass through Dallas. The Stoneleigh Hotel was built in 1923. This historic Dallas hotel has 153 rooms. A sister hotel to the Mansion at Turtle Creek is in the Uptown area as well, the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. It is part of the Crescent Complex, an upscale plaza with shops, galleries and restaurants. The largest hotel in the area is the 218 room, Ritz Carlton. Also in the Uptown area, you'll find wonderful small hotels. The Maple Manor Hotel is an 1898 Victorian that has six suites. The Hôtel St. Germain is a turn of the century, that's 19th to 20th century, Victorian home as well. It has been transformed into an Old World-style inn with seven suites. Bailey's Uptown Inn is smaller still. It is an actual bed and breakfast in the area. It has five rooms on two floors.

Arts District Hotels

The Arts District is best known as the location of a concentration of art institutions in Dallas. You'll find the Dallas Museum of Art here as well as I.M. Pei-designed Meyerson Symphony Hall and the Dallas World Aquarium. Located within walking distance of these attractions is the Fairmont Hotel. It has 545 rooms right in the heart of the Arts District. Also in the Arts District, you'll find a La Quinta Inn & Suites.

City Center/Main Street Hotels

The City Center/Main Street neighborhood is just to the east of the Arts District. When you see the Dallas skyline most of the building are in the City Center/Main Street neighborhood. This is the heart of the downtown business district for Dallas. It is also one of the older parts of the city and as a result has many old historic building and hotels. As a result, you'll find a combination of major chains and old style hotels. The major chain hotels include the Westin City Center and the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, both are Starwood hotels. The Hotel Indigo used to be the Aristocrat Hotel. Conrad Hilton, before the Hilton chain existed, built it in 1925. It has gone through a series of owners since that time and is now an Intercontinental hotel. The Adolphus Hotel was built by beer baron Adolphus Busch in 1912. The hotel is old world in style and rather ornate. It is operated by the Noble House Hotels. The Magnolia Hotel is best known for Pegasus - the Flying Red Horse, which tops the hotel. The horse is lit up at night. The horse is a remnant of the Magnolia Petroleum Company, which built the building as its headquarters in 1922. It as turned into a 330-room hotel in 1997.

Reunion District Hotels

The reunion district is dominated by the Hyatt Hotel and Reunion Tower. The tower has a rotating restaurant that has undergone extensive renovations. The Reunion Arena, which is also here is being torn down, replaced by the American Airlines Arena in the nearby Victory Park neighborhood.

Victory Park Hotels

Victory Park is a planned development area. The American Airlines Center, where major sports teams, such as the Dallas Mavericks Basketball team and the Dallas Stars hockey team, is in Victory Park. The W Hotel is nearby. The W is part of the Starwood Hotels. W hotels are designed to appeal to a young cutting edge crowd.

Surrounding Areas Hotels

Outside the downtown area, you'll find just about all of the national chains, from the Residence Inns and Courtyards from Marriott, to Motel 6, Embassy Suites and others.
