Golf is pretty much a year round activity in Dallas. Every once in a while a storm will close the courses for a day or two but they soon reopen. So you can pretty much plan on getting in a round of golf when you visit Dallas, any time of year. And you'll have plenty of choices. The city of Dallas itself operates six separate courses. There are scores of other courses in the Dallas area, both public and private.

Finding a place to get in a round of golf while in Dallas can be tough. Not because there aren't a lot of places to play, but exactly the opposite, there are so many choices. With over 70 courses in the Dallas area, your choices are many. There are municipal courses, some that can be very challenging, public courses, some that are owned and operated by resorts, and private clubs, available if you've got a friend that belongs. Be sure to book a tee-time in advance because even though there are a lot of courses there are also a lot of golfers in Dallas. There are brokers that can help you get tee-times. One of the surest ways is to book a golf vacation at a resort, like the Four Seasons, that has a golf course and can provide you with golf packages. Dallas City Courses
The city of Dallas operates six golf courses. They are Cedar Crest, Keeton, L.B. Houston, Tenison Glen, Tenison Highlands and Stevens.
Cedar Crest started as a private course in 1916. The course hosted The Dallas Open in 1926 and The PGA Championship in 1927. The city of Dallas bought the course in 1946. The course underwent a major renovation in 2004. A par 71 course is over 6500 yards. Greens fees range from $10 for so-called sundown play to $27 for prime time on weekends and holidays.
Keeton Park is located east of downtown at 2323 Jim Miller Road. The course is lined with pecan trees and multiple water hazards. It plays a little over 6500 yards from the back tees and is par 72. Fees range from $8 for sundown play to $22 for prime time.
Built in 1960, L.B. Houston has water everywhere it seems. Water comes into play of 13 of the holes on the course. L.B. Houston is located northwest of downtown Dallas. The course is a par 72 and plays over 6700 yards from the back tees. Greens fees range from $8 for sundown play to $22 for prime time.
Stevens is located in Kessler Park in the Oak Cliffs neighborhood of Dallas. The 6000 hilly yards, par 71 course is along the banks of Coombs Creek. Greens fees range from $8 for sundown play to $22 for prime time.
There are two course located in Tension Park. They are Tenison Glen and Tenison Highlands. The Glen was the first municipality owned course in Dallas. The 6600-yard course along White Rock Creek plays a par 72. Greens fees range from $8 for sundown play to $22 for prime time. The Highlands is about 500 yards longer than The Glen but still plays to a par 72. It was redesigned in 2001. It has five lakes and 32 sand bunkers. It is the most expensive of the Dallas municipal course. The Greens fees range from $17 during the late day sundowner hours and $43 for prime time on the weekends and holidays.
Four Seasons TPC
There are two courses at the Four Seasons resort in Irving, the TPC Las Colinas Course and the Cottonwood Valley course. The Four Season TPC Las Colinas course opened in 2008. It plays host to the Byron Nelson Championship each Memorial Day weekend. The course is 7,166 yards from the longest tees for a par of 70. The Cottonwood course, which opened in 2007, is 6,899 yards from the longest tees for a par of 70. You need to be staying the Four Seasons to have access to the courses. You can arrange golfing packages with the Four Seasons or your travel agent. The greens fees are $195 at each of the courses.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Coyote Ridge Golf Club is located in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton at 1680 Bandera Dr. The Course underwent major renovations that were completed in 2007. It is now just over 7000 yards from the back tees and plays at a par 72. Greens fees include a cart and range from $20 for after 6pm play Monday to Thursday to $69 for weekend prime time.

Tangle Ridge Golf Club
Tangle Ridge Golf Club is located in the western suburb of Grand Prairie. This public course is 6,835 yards from the back tees for a par 72. Water comes into play on almost half of the holes on the course. Greens fees range from $15 for twilight play to $50 for the prime weekend hours.
Texas Star Golf Course
Euless is the home of the Texas Star Golf Course. The course is part of a recreation facility for the city of Euless. Built in 1997, it is located on 275 acres. The course is built around Hurricane Creek, which runs throughout the course. There are stacked rock ponds, waterfalls and natural woodlands. The course is 6,936 yards from the back tees for a par 71. Greens fees range from include a cart and range from $37 for twilight play to $77 for Friday to Sunday and holiday prime time play.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Bear Creek Golf Club is located near the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. It has two courses, the East Course and the West Course. They both are par 72 and play almost 6700 yards from the back tees. Green fees at Bear Creek range from $25 for twilight play during the week to $69 for weekends and holiday prime time.
Twin Wells Golf Course
The Twin Wells Golf Course is located to the west of Dallas in Irving. It is a little over 6600 yards from the back tees for a par 72. Green fees range from $18 for play after 5pm during the week to $40 for weekend prime time play.
